Psychotherapy is a collaborative treatment process based on the relationship between an individual and a therapist. Rooted in dialogue, it provides a supportive, safe environment that allows you to talk openly with someone who’s objective, clinically trained, and nonjudgmental.
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy looks at the whys and hows of your suffering. This modality focuses on both alleviating initial symptoms, and then providing a deeper exploration into what may be at the root of the issue. It holds the following theoretical principals to be fundamental for growth and change:
Learning about one's self through their relationships and relational patterns
Focusing on states of conflict and ambivalence
How past experiences and relationships affects our present
Enabling unconscious feelings and actions to become conscious
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy promotes awareness of unconscious, maladaptive and habitually recurrent patterns of emotion and behavior, allowing previously unconscious aspects of the self to become integrated and promoting optimal functioning, healing and creative expression.
Together we will work together to identify and change the thought and behavior patterns that are keeping you from feeling your best.
